How Many Business Cards Fit On 8.5 X 11 – A standard business card is 3.5″ x 2″ – but have you ever wondered why most cards are exactly that size and shape? You may have noticed that usually everything fits into a purse, purse or bag. Credit cards, appointment cards, and licenses are nearly the same size for this reason.
Standard business card sizes are often the right choice for consistency and identification. But a different shape can help you stand out – and make an impression.

Business Card Sizes And Dimensions
Do you have a pile of business cards that you want to quickly scan? Do you need an application to manage all your company contacts? Want to create personalized cards as a marketing and sales tool? Today’s business card scanner apps offer much more than a simple scan. They can help you be more productive, more organized and always ready to exchange contact details, wherever you are.
To help you find the right business card scanning software, we’ve reviewed several dozen apps — including those already on your phone, CRM apps with card scanners, and those designed with both general and specific users in mind. We’ve narrowed our list to five this year as many of the options are starting to share many of the same traits.
Here are our picks for the five best business card scanners. Click through each app to learn more about why we chose it, or read on for more context on business card readers.
All of our top app reviews are written by people who have spent a large part of their careers using, testing, and writing about software. We spend countless hours researching and testing apps, using each app as it was intended to be used and evaluating it against the criteria we set for that category. We are never paid for placement in our articles of any app or for links to any website – we value readers trusting us to provide authentic reviews of the categories and apps we review. For more details on our process, read the full breakdown of how we select events to feature on the blog.
What Makes A Good Business Card? 10 Golden Rules
If you can look under the hood of business card scanning software, you will find OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. This decades-old technology, simply put, turns images into text. First, it scans the card structure and then divides it into blocks of text and images, dropping text and numbers into their context fields within the app. If all went well, the contact information matches the business card.
But scanning accuracy varies between apps, and that’s partly what separates the good from the bad. Unusual fonts, background colors, and information settings on maps all affect how an app’s OCR handles data. A good scanner can usually accurately capture most card details, no matter how the business card is designed. (No app is 100% accurate, however, even when using human transcripts.)
Finally, we’re looking for apps with specific features, such as multiple card capture, design packages, and enterprise contact management capabilities.
BizConnect produces the closest I think perfect scanning accuracy. It’s the only app that consistently finds and links social media accounts, finds obscure and unusual fonts, and identifies words that others miss. BizConnect is also easy to use and carefully designed to provide users with many features without feeling overwhelmed.

From the base screen you will find all your contacts with their card picture, name, title, company and when they were added. Next to each contact is a handy options menu that lets you call, email and share without even opening the card. At the top of this screen are color-coded options for exporting, importing, adding to CRM, and performing other actions. The scan button is prominently displayed at the bottom.
Clicking Scan gives you the option to scan a single card (front and back), a QR code or in batches i.e. scan one card after another. After the scan, you will receive a processing notification, and within minutes you will have complete contacts. While it’s a little slower than the other apps on this list, it’s well worth the wait. I tested a business card that gave all other issues, and Bizconnect was nearly perfect.
In addition to star scanning, it also features task scheduling, activity tracking, and reports that show daily and monthly prospects captured. There’s even a barebones CRM where you can add transaction stages, tasks, and activities with a revenue feature that tracks all returned transactions. It’s easy to integrate your CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho and Pipedrive) by connecting your accounts and selecting the contacts you want to export.
Alternatively, if you want to connect to other applications, you can do so using the BizConnect integration. Lets you connect BizConnect to thousands of applications, so you can do things like add new BizConnect business cards to Google Sheets or create new people in Copper from scanned BizConnect business cards.
Business Card Statistics: Why Do You Need One?
Although not well known in North America, Japan’s Sansan is a company with a business card scanning footprint of more than 7,000 companies in 60 countries. This app is for teams and companies that regularly acquire large numbers of contacts and want the ability to share and manage them internally.
For this purpose, several features stand out: scanning multiple cards with the app; human transcriptionists for reduced data entry and better accuracy; relationship management functions, such as classes and permissions; and bulk actions, such as email, reminders, and sharing. And for those who want to avoid paper, they are now offering virtual tickets for contactless sharing.
Scanning multiple cards is easy: just arrange up to four cards vertically, and when the blue circle stops on each card,
