The Oldest Man to Run the Oldest Trail Running Race in America
Northern California’s Dipsea is the oldest trail race in the United States. The race is a 7.4-mile course from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach, was first ran in 1905 and falls on the second Sunday in June each year. Jack Kirk, better known as the “Dipsea Demon,” competed in the race 67 consecutive times before passing away in 2007 at the age of 100. He actually won twice over that span of time and ran his last race when he was 95 years old. The guys choice of sportswear was fantastic – long pants, a long sleeve collared shirt, and boat shoes.
