The NFL Network launched in 2003 and has become one of the biggest sports television networks in the United States. In 2006 they started one of their best programs to date with their America’s game series. This was the first of the NFL Network’s big programming features and is one of the best video sets that has ever been made by NFL Films. In association with NFL Films the NFL Network has now chronicled all 46 past Super Bowls and later this year they will release the video for Super Bowl 47.

Each Super Bowl story from the Green Bay Packers win in 1966 up to the New York Giants second upset of the New England Patriots is told by players and coaches. These films utilize NFL highlights, NFL Films coverage, audio clips from NFL sounds, and interviews. The interviews for each Super Bowl are done by at least three combined players and coaches from the Super Bowl winning team. Each Super Bowl is also narrated by a famous actor including Ed Harris, Brad Pitt, Alec Baldwin, and Bruce Willis.

This is arguably the best series that the NFL has ever put together and each episode is a must see for major NFL football fans. These reviews not only recap the teams year and Super Bowl run, but many of them uncover unknown stories from behind the scenes. If you haven’t already seen an episode they can be seen at different times on the NFL Network. You can also buy the gift set of Super Bowls 1-40 on Amazon. However, that set is quite expensive and only for the biggest of NFL fans.

Some teams also have their own sets of DVDs with just their Super Bowls. The San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, and New England Patriots all have their own box sets.

A list of each Super Bowl with the corresponding narrator and players and coaches that were interviewed can be found here. Unlike many sports recap shows or the DVDs that come with the Sports Illustrated gift set that is advertised after each Super Bowl these videos are well done and fun to watch again and again. This is the perfect gift for any big NFL fan. Trust me, I watch my Steelers set often and it never gets old.

So if you are looking for a good gift for an NFL fan or if you want something to hold you over until training camp give the “America’s Game” series a try; you’ll be glad you did.
