Week 9: Steelers Outside Backers Battling Injuries

James Harrison will likely return for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens. He has been out with a broken orbital bone (the bone around the eye). LaMarr Woodley, who plays opposite Harrison, injured his hamstring Sunday against the New England Patriots and is not expected to play on Sunday. The Steelers have battled injuries throughout the season mainly to the linebacker core and the offensive line. James Farrior, the Steelers MLB, missed Sunday’s game against the Patriots also, but will be back in a limited role on Sunday.

Harrison’s return comes just in time; he has been a Sunday night monster. In 2007 Harrison was a one-man wrecking crew against the Baltimore Ravens. During their November 5th match-up Harrison recorded 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and an interception. Harrison has stared in multiple Sunday night games and the Steelers will hope to have him and Woodley in on Sunday for a very important re-match with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens have fallen back to earth after they slaughtered and embarrassed the Steelers in week one. If not for a late comeback against the Arizona Cardinals in week 8 they would find themselves in third place of the AFC North behind Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. The winner of this game will hold their own fate in the AFC North. Win out and the division is yours.

The Steelers may be full strength on Sunday if Woodley can play; the team has him listed as doubtful at best, but Woodley is here to tell you “Don’t count me out”: http://tout.com/m/779hlt
