Boeing 747-8
I wouldn’t say I’ve ever looked at a 747 passenger airliner and thought, “I wish it was bigger.” Well if you’ve had that thought, there’s a new king in town.
This past Sunday Boeing christened their newest jumbo-sized-baby, the 747-8, and it’s huge. At nearly 20 feet longer than the previous 747, and with a jaw-dropping 467 seats you would expect it to be a heavyweight. Yet it’s lighter than the next-biggest Airbus A380. It’s quieter and more fuel-efficient than its predecessors, and has a range of 8000 nautical miles.
Other cool features include “fly by wire” technology, which means a smoother flight for you. The cargo version already has 1700 hours of flight time logged. If you fly Lufthansa or Korean Air, you could have a chance to fly in one by the end of the year.
