The Media is Blatently Censoring Ron Paul

Ron Paul came in second in last weekend’s Iowa straw poll, finishing less than 200 votes behind Michele Bachmann – 9/10′s of a percentage point. But the longtime Texas congressman, and early champion of many of the ideas that are so popular with Tea Partiers at the moment is in no way considered a serious contender for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.  But why?  That was the question on Jon Stewart’s mind tonight on The Daily Show.

Stewart found that, universally, Bachmann, Romney, and Perry were all considered the “top tier.” “You’re not forgetting anyone?” Stewart asked, referring to Rep. Paul, who had come in second. Rep. Paul managed to be ignored over Rick Santorum– “he lost to the guy who lost so bad he dropped out of the race”– and Jon Huntsman, who got 69 votes. “If all of Jon Huntsman’s supporters met at the Ames, Iowa Quiznos, the fire marshal would say, ‘yeah, that’s fine, here are some more seats.’” Stewart found it bewildering that Rep. Paul had become “the 13th floor of a hotel,” culminating with a clip of a CNN anchor requesting a reporter leave out the Ron Paul reporting if they found any juicy Sarah Palin stuff– saying, in Stewart’s words, “I mean, f*ck that guy, right?”

Now I don’t agree with Paul on everything. If I did, I’d be a damn fool. I hear “He’s unelectable” all the time. Where the f**k do you think this meaningless slogan originated? We don’t realize just how much power these talking heads have over us.

If things go as planned, Perry is clearly going to win the Republican nomination. That’s a fact. He’s got movie-star looks and a line of bullshit that the simple-minded have no defense against.  At this point, there are no viable solutions to our massive debt being discussed. None. Obama has no answers. His best idea is to kick it down the road a decade. That’s not going to bode well for the rest of us.  Ron Paul just might be the guy to fix some of our countries massive issues, but I highly doubt the media will let him.  War is just too damn good of a story to let him bring the troops home.
