George R. R. Martin on Penises and Vaginas

It’s no secret, bible thumpers will readily tell you sex is bad while fighting tooth and nail for their right to own a machine gun, kill trespassers on their land or call for the killing of gays.  It’s a highly confusing dichotomy.

Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin takes a lot of flack for all the sex in the show and the books that inspired them.  He provided Reuters with an eloquent and simple response:

“I can describe an axe entering a human skull in great explicit detail and no one will blink twice at it. I provide a similar description, just as detailed, of a penis entering a vagina, and I get letters about it and people swearing off,” he said.

“To my mind this is kind of frustrating, it’s madness. Ultimately, in the history of [the] world, penises entering vaginas have given a lot of people a lot of pleasure; axes entering skulls, well, not so much.”

Sex is after all why we’re all here, it make the world go round.  Violence, not so much.
