Stihl Battery-Powered Chain Saw
Generally, I wouldn’t be inclined to get too excited about an electric chain saw. They tend to be a little – well – not gas powered. Now when Stihl puts their name and fantastic reputation behind one I get a little more excited.
Green, low-noise, and lightweight aren’t normal chainsaw descriptors, but the Stihl Battery-Powered Chain Saw ($350) has them all. It’s powered by a 36-volt lithium-ion battery, which eliminates the need for awkward and dangerous power cords. It also features a toolless quick chain adjuster, a foot-long guide bar, and offers up to 60 minutes of run time on the AP 160 battery or 35 on the AP 80. Not a bad option for those looking to retain the power and get away from the hassle of gas powered saws.
