You can throw a room temperature brew into the freezer to cool but it will still take at least 40 minutes before it’s drinkable. With LG’s new fridge you can get lukewarm beers frosty in about five minutes.
The awesome doesn’t stop there.
LG’s new French-door fridge features 31 cubic feet (877 liters) of space for food storage, made possible with thinner insulation and an ice machine that mostly fits inside the door rather than extruding into the main storage area. The interior also features sensors that constantly monitor and adjust the temperature, humidity, and air circulation to keep food fresh for as long as possible.
The Blast Chiller, of course, is the real eye catcher here and it easily secured a “Best of Innovations” Award at CES 2012. The compartment cools at a highly accelerated rate by swirling the air inside to keep the temperature evenly distributed. A 12 oz. can of soda or beer can be chilled to ice cold in five minutes and in eight minutes you can have a cold bottle of wine or two cans.
The fridge also has a touchscreen, computer, camera, barcode reader and internet connection with the ability to talk to your oven. The fridge, quite literally, knows what is inside and can help you order more supplies when food runs out. It’ll even provide you with cooking instructions and recipes on the touchscreen. And if you are at the store and can’t remember if you have milk or not you can link up to the fridge’s camera on you smartphone and find out.
