Lana Del Rey’s ‘SNL’ Performances Were the Funniest Part of the Show

[wide][/wide]

Saturday Night Live has a strong history with awful-sounding performances. You have Ashlee Simpson, of course. TV on the Radio. Ke$ha. Kanye West’s 2008 disaster. And one of my personal favorites, when John Frusciante sabotaged “Under the Bridge.” – video of that below. But, this. This was something magical and new.

Lana Del Rey has blown up on the internet overnight like and the resulting musical premature ejaculation was one of the strangest things I’ve seen or heard in years. Listen for yourself:

One of my favorite musical performances, when John Frusciante purposefully tried to throw off Anthony Kiedis during the “Under the Bridge” into.

Kiedis said it “felt like I was getting stabbed in the back and hung out to dry in front of all of America while Frusciante was off in a corner in the shadow, playing some dissonant out-of-tune experiment.” Frusciante used a distortion pedal for the ending verse and screamed into the microphone during his backup vocals.

Frusciante was probably pissed that Kiedis intentionally kicked him in the back of the knee during the first song they performed on SNL that night “Stone Cold Bush“.
