See Mix Drink: A Refreshingly Simple Guide to Crafting the World’s Most Popular Cocktails | Review

[wide][/wide]

See Mix Drink is a rebellion, of sorts, against so-called conventional cocktail books. The beautiful book is built almost entirely on graphics, gone is the text-laden cocktail guide in favor of highly visual learning. You get color coding, visual instructions and keys and graphs. True to the name, it is quite simple.

If you are still having trouble understanding the book, there is a two-page guide on ‘How to Use This Book,’ but really a monkey wouldn’t need it. There is also a guide to bar essentials, a guide to popular spirits, and a color-coded index broken down by name and calorie count per drink. This is the D.I.Y. guide to mixology, for beginners through pros!

I don’t drink mixed drinks often – beer and whiskey for me – which adds even more value to the simplicity of this book. If a guest is over that wants a mixed drink I have the confidence to mix it without looking like a fool. The book format is great, with full-color photos, illustrations, and diagrams, paired with concise text instructions. The drink types are separated based on what types of spirits are being used, and then alphabetically which makes finding a drink you can mix from what you have on hand a breeze. Oh, the drinks themselves? Quite good. You can pickup See Mix Drink on Amazon for $10.
