‘Mountain’ the Majesty and Beauty of the Last Worldly Frontier
Few of us are lucky enough to spend time deep in the mountains – it’s something I feel fortunate to have experienced and when you do experience the mountains you cannot help but feel their immense power and majesty. Editor Sandy Hill’s black-and-white photo book Mountain brings the majesty & power of the world’s most scenic peaks into your home, no ice axes or crampons required.
With 350 images by more than 160 photographers, Mountain is chockfull of inspiring imagery including ant-like mountain dwellers as the focal point brings the enormity of the natural surroundings into perspective.
The final portion of the book shifts to the study man-made creations in contrast to the mountains nearby where they’re built. A testament to human ingenuity and a truly humbling experience.
Among the vivid imagery are numerous brief autobiographical tales detailing the too familiar love-hate struggle between man and mountain.
All of book’s proceeds go to the American Alpine Club Library. Mountain is available through Amazon for $54.
